Student Success Class

A cooperative effort to establish and maintain student success for Treasure Valley Community College students has been proposed.  The project will involve gathering data on incoming population and identification of at-risk populations.  The target group will be focused on early intervention activities and retention data will be compared to a like cohort group that has not participated in the project.

GED Transitions Class Curriculum Development

Alignment of GED Transitions class to the Pathways Advancement initiative will be addressed in this project.  It supports the development of specific activities that prepare our students to make informed and attainable, career goals, as well as assist them in making the transition from GED student to TVCC student.

Spanish Nights

Spanish nights are held monthly where individuals can get together and practice speaking Spanish.  This project is facilitating better communications among the Hispanic and Anglo members of the community.

Online Course Orientation

Creating an online orientation course for students how are planning to take distance delivered courses at TVCC.  Components of this project include basic computer terminology and skills, student services necessities and explorations into the realities of taking a class on the web.

Social Science Supplemental Instruction

The proposal is to provide supplemental instruction in the areas of Psychology and Sociology for at least one hour weekly on both campuses.

Digital Lectures in Distance Delivery

This project is to prepare 20-24 short concise Anatomy and Physiology lectures in a digital format.  The lectures would be available via streaming video for the web based students to use as a supplement to the reading and coursework.

TVCC Outdoor Equipment

Purchasing outdoor equipment for instruction, club outings, and as rental equipment for students is the focus of this project.  This equipment would enhance the educational experiences available for students and faculty resulting in retaining students by enhancing student life experiences.

New Student Online Orientation

New student orientation is an integral component of student success and retention.  Online orientation would enable TVCC to reach a larger number of new incoming students each term while giving them up-to-date and accurate information they need in order to be successful in their academic endevors.
