CLEP Testing Information

College Level Examination Program (CLEP)

Before registering for a CLEP exam, check with an advisor at your college/university to determine whether CLEP credits will be accepted for your degree requirements.   TVCC administers all CLEP exams however, not all exams are accepted by TVCC.  A student transferring to any four-year institution or another community college should check with that institution to determine whether CLEP credits will be accepted.

The College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) gives you the opportunity to earn college credit for knowledge you have obtained through professional experience, prior academic study, and/or independent study.  CLEP examinations are offered in several academic subjects.  Each exam is 90 minutes long.

Registration/Fees

There are two separate fees for the CLEP examination:

1.      $15 per exam payable to TVCC must accompany the CLEP Test Center Registration Form.  If you are taking an exam with an optional essay, there is an additional $10 fee.  Please pay this fee and submit your registration form in the Student Services Center (Monday-Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm) at least TWO WEEKS prior to the date you wish to test.  The Test Center will send you a CLEP Test Center Admission Form after your registration form has been processed.   The $15 per exam fee is non-refundable.

2.      $77 per exam is due on the day of the exam by credit card (preferable method) or a check or money order payable to College-Level Examination Program.  The testing center does NOT accept cash.  A separate payment is required for each CLEP exam even if testing on the same day.
