DISCOVER Career Guidance System

DISCOVER Career Guidance & Information System is a powerful computer-based career information resource.  The program is available on-line so students can access the program at their convenience.  DISCOVER is organized into 6 main categories:

• Inventories—learn about yourself by taking abilities, values, and interest inventories.

• Occupations—explore occupations by characteristics, major, military experience, inventory results, and hot occupations.  View specifics about occupations including work tasks, related occupations, training qualities, salary and outlook, and likes/dislikes.

• Majors—explore majors based on your interested occupation or the world-of-work map.

• Schools—search for schools and view information including majors, cost, admission, services, housing, financial aid, and activities.  You may also find information on scholarships and financial aid in this section.

• Job search—learn how to write resumes, cover letters, and prepare for job interviews.  Explore job openings, internships, and apprentiships.

• Portfolio—a detailed summary of the information you have entered into DISCOVER can be viewed or printed.
