Self-Evaluation Survey

Student

Is distance education right for you? The following questions will help you gauge your readiness to take part in courses delivered via distance education methods.

Interaction – Visual classroom cues are missing in this environment, so you need to let your instructor know if you are confused or frustrated.

Work Habits – Self discipline is critical when you are the person determining when and where you will study.

1. I am motivated to learn the subject involved.
2. I have 9-12 hours of time a week to devote to a 3-credit class.
3. I am disciplined and work well independently.
4. I have strong reading and writing skills.
5. My performance does not depend on how my peer perform.
6. I am good at keeping myself on task to complete a project.
7. I am comfortable using the particular technology involved (i.e., video, cd, the Internet)
8. I have, or have access to, a computer with Internet access.
If you answered these questions with an "Always" or "Most of the time" answer, then you are a very good candidate for a distance education course.

If you answered "Some of the time" or "When I feel like it", you may be more successful in a live class.
