TVCC Drafting Drafting is required for the design and fabrication of almost any product. Professional drafters convert engineering sketches and information into formal drawings for product manufacturing or building construction. Treasure Valley Community College offers a two-year Associate of Applied Science degree in drafting. Students are exposed to a wide range of technologies while preparing for immediate entry into the job market. The curriculum provides training to develop the technical skills necessary to create formal drawings using computer-aided drafting (CAD). The student will learn through the use of classroom demonstrations and hands-on experience with CAD. Instruction stresses industrial standards and techniques, building of applicable skills, work habits, and logic needed in the workplace. TVCC provides a wide range of useful and affordable learning opportunities for students of all ages and educational backgrounds. Our drafting program at TVCC can provide training for those already employed in this occupational field as well. This is accomplished through special workshops, existing daytime and evening courses, and by cooperative efforts with private companies, state and federal agencies. The job market remains strong for professional drafters although the opportunities vary for each person, depending on the specialty area and ability of the individual. The Drafting program is part of the Professional-Technical Department. Questions may be directed to the Pro-Tech Department at (541) 881-5970. |
